Rapid weight loss can be just as dangerous as obesity, and is also less sustainable than gradual weight loss.
Losing weight at the rate of two to three pounds per week is recommended.
Weight loss camp that is only a week or two in duration is unlikely to result in significant weight loss. Our sessions are 3 weeks long as it is the minimum time period for getting on the good trails. What is important is that you will learn to live in a way that will result in significant weight optimization over time.
Optimum result would require to follow two or three consecutive sessions.
Having physical activity is also vital.
Being on a diet without physical activity leads to losing muscle rather than fat & may endanger your health.
Physical activity will burn calories. It does not help losing weight though as you will gain muscle which is heavier than fat but it will slimmer your silhouette and decrease your body fat, thus making you much healthier.
Getting a slimmer silhouette is important for self-esteem and social acceptance.
Over weighted kids are bullied by other children. These obese youngsters are less likely to participate in extracurricular school activities and less likely to date. Statistically they are more likely to drop out of school. Obese children metabolize drugs differently than healthy weight children. Overweight adolescents have a 70% chance of becoming obese adults.
Over weighted adults are less likely to get good jobs. They are more likely to have chronic health problems (cardiac, diabetes...) and addiction to antidepressant drugs. Unfortunately fat people are more abused and suffer more verbal attacks than slim to average ones.
Our weight loss camp is effective because of the support the participants give to, and receive from, one another.
To make it even more efficient, adults without children should consider participating to our weight loss camp with their partner or with friends or relatives either with similar weight problem or just supportive.
Parents with weight problems or with over weighted kids should consider participating to our weight loss camp with them because such a program works even better when the entire family is involved. Our camp program will help you change your family behavior where the environment at home cannot and the topic becomes emotionally charged, especially with communication breaking down between the child(ren) and parents.
Thus a sense of community with a support network will be established.
